Post: Baby carrier straps - too tight?

I have a Chicco baby carrier, and the straps snug in with
a draw-belt. It keeps the baby nice and safe in the
carrier I'm sure, but I am worried that the straps might
cut off circulation. They have these little "floating"
pads that I imagine are supposed to stay under the chin or
about the neck as you tighten them. Probably to keep the
straps from chafing the baby. They make me nervous
though, and I try to move them down the shoulders to make
them more comfortable and less constricting on the neck.
I noticed the other day when I pulled the baby out of the
carrier, that part of her face that she had slumped over
on as she dozed in the carrier had less color than the
other. Has anyone else noticed this or heard anything
about a recall or safety concerns for this carrier or any
other one? I know I'm paranoid, but she's just so
precious....
